Bonus List

COUNTRIES WITH THE GREATEST RANGE BETWEEN THE FURTHEST NORTH AND SOUTH POINTS

While there's quite a latitudinal difference (and climatic difference) between Ka Lae, Hawai'i and Point Barrow, Alaska, the United States is not #1 for greatest range of longitudes. France takes the #1 spot, since Réunion is a department and is considered part of the country. The totals below include islands that are considered part of the country (such as the Bishop and Clerk Islets of Australia, which are at around 55° S) but not dependencies, such as American Samoa, Bermuda or the Antarctic Territories. Note that islands consist of one (or more) of the extreme longitudes for each of the top 5 countries.
