Bonus List

CAREFREE HIKES: LARGEST COUNTRIES WHERE NO VENOMOUS (LAND) SNAKES ARE NATIVE

Venomous land snakes (vipers, adders, rattlesnakes, etc.) are native to nearly all mainland nations, though Chile, in its cooler climate and protected by high mountains has none. Many island nations have no venomous snakes due to their isolation but not all (Japan and the Philippines are two examples that do). Venomous sea snakes are not included.

1. Chile
2. Madagascar
3. New Zealand
4. Cuba
5. Iceland
6. Ireland
7. Dominican Republic
8. Haiti
9. Fiji
10. East Timor

Not surprisingly, if Greenland were an independent nation, it would be #1 (Svalbard would be #7, and New Caledonia would be #10 if they were each to be independent)!
