List from Chapter 1

STATES WHERE THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF CITIES AND TOWNS HAVE SPANISH NAMES

Nationwide, 4.8 percent of all cities and towns have Spanish names, including some of the largest cities in the United States, such as Los Angeles, San Diego and San Antonio. The southwestern United States, which used to be part of Mexico, has the highest percentage of its cities having Spanish-language names (despite many of the cities and their names being created after much of the Southwest was ceded from Mexico to the United States in 1848).
