Bonus List

STATES WITH THE HIGHEST (AND LOWEST) NUMBER OF BREWERIES (INCLUDING MICROBREWS AND BREWPUBS) PER CAPITA

The North and West, especially smaller states, rank highest. The Southeastern United States very consistently ranks low (regardless of the size of the state; all Southeastern states, from Virginia south to Florida and west to Texas and Oklahoma, are below the national average of 5.3 per million people). The differences between the highest ranked and lowest ranked states are sharp (like a good ale?); in fact, Vermont has about 30 times more breweries per capita than Alabama!

Most breweries in this list are brewpubs (places people drink where the beer is brewed onsite) and microbreweries.
