MOST POPULOUS COUNTRIES WITHOUT A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL CHAIN HOTEL

Most countries (even ones like Burma, Cuba or Mauritania) have at least one hotel which is a part of a major international chain (see list of chains below). 2. Congo (Dem. Rep.)
3. Sudan
4. Afghanistan
5. Iraq
6. North Korea
7. Malawi
8. Niger
9. Angola
10. Belarus

Hotel chains surveyed: Accor (inc. Sofitel, Mercure, Ibis, Motel 6, etc.), Best Western, Cendant (inc. Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, etc.), Choice (inc. Comfort, Quality, etc.), Hilton, Hyatt, Intercontinental (inc. Holiday Inn, among others), Marriott, Radisson and Starwood (inc. Sheraton, among others).
