STATES WITH THE GREATEST AND LEAST DISPARITY BETWEEN PER CAPITA INCOMES FOR WHITES VERSUS BLACKS

The South, parts of the Northeast and parts of the Midwest have the greatest disparities between incomes of Whites (including White Hispanics) and Blacks. Small states with low Black populations (both in the west and the upper Northeast) have the least amount of disparity. Figures below the per capita income of Blacks expressed (total income earned by Blacks divided by the Black population) as a percentage of the White per capita income. Unfortunately, in all states, the per capita income of Whites is higher than that of Blacks.
