Developing nations which are largely isolated (either by water or
by strong restrictions from the government) from the rest of the world
are the most expensive countries in the world to call from the United
States. Rates are based on an average of seven phone companies and calling
cards and are from the continental U.S.

In some cases, calls to mobile phones may be slightly higher.

One territory is even more expensive to call than the most expensive
country: Niue. It costs (on average) $3.42 per minute to call there.
