STATES WHICH HAVE HAD THE MOST DIRECT HITS BY HURRICANES (1900-2003)
States in the Southeast rank highest, especially those with long coastlines. However, some states with short coastlines
which rank lower, like Mississippi, have had some extremely destructive hurricanes (such as Camille in 1969).
Florida, which is number one in this list, will leap even higher this year (2004) relative to #2 Texas due to an extremely strong hurricane season.
