COUNTRIES WHERE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IS ILLEGAL IN ALL PLACES (INCLUDING IN THE HOME)

All corporal punishment of children (and, of course, adults), including spanking, is illegal in 11 countries, mostly in Europe. Sweden, in 1979, was the first country to make corporal punishment illegal, and spanking has been reported to have decreased there since then. Anti-corporal punishment legislation is pending in several additional countries not listed here, and many other nations prohibit this sort of punishment in schools and prisons.
