ABURI
Aburi is a town about 25 miles north of Accra, and is in a hilly area with an elevation around 1200 feet (so it's somewhat cooler than Accra). The main feature here is the botanical gardens, which mostly consists of large trees (not as many shrubs or small flowers).

Another part of the walkway, with large (but unidentified) trees...
There was rain at times the day I went (note the large drops are falling off the side of a patio roof)...
Here is an African quinine tree (Picralima klaineana)...
The was a very large 350-year old kapok tree (Ceiba pentandra), surrounded by a couple of smaller ones...
Closer to the trunk...
A strangler fig (labeled as Ficus elasticoides)...
An African shea butter tree (Vitellaria paradoxa)...
Velvet tamarind tree (Dialium indum)...
Looking up into the branches...
Termite mound in the gardens...
Nearby woodlands...
An odd plant (Oriental Arborvitae--Thuja orientalis) that's native to NW China and is typically planted in temperate climates (hardy to USDA Zone 6), not in the tropics...
An odd site...a World War II British helicopter in the gardens...
The nearby hill-top town of Aburi...
A church in Aburi...
View towards more hills (but partly shrouded in fog)...
